Custom Project: Upcycled Horse Bridle Leather Mirror
This custom mirror was created at the request of a gentleman in Kentucky. He liked our Leather Bridle Campaign-style Circle Mirror, and wanted a larger version for his newly-renovated bathroom.
Steph tracked down a vintage bridle from a horse ranch in Montana, cleaned and conditioned the leather, and refinished the bit with a rusted gunmetal patina. For the mirror backing, she repurposed an 18-inch spruce wood tabletop, sanding and refinishing it to bring out the beautiful wood grain detail. The bridle was modified with an extra leather strap culled from an antique horse hame to add length. The designer framed the leather around the tabletop by hand, before dropping in the mirror.
The final mirror measures 23” high x 18” wide x 2.5” deep, and hangs from the original snaffle bit for an authentic farm-feel.
Hand-crafted in the style of military campaign furniture, our collection of leather and canvas strap mirrors adds a touch of polished rustic to any environment. Or, if there’s a specific look you’re seeking, please contact us about creating a custom piece for you.
